Notice on International Girls in ICT Day 2013
International Girls’ in ICT Day is an initiative backed by International Communication Union (ITU) Member States in Plenipotentiary Resolution 70 (Guadalajara, 2010) to create a global environment that empowers and encourages girls and young women to consider careers in the growing field of information and communication technologies (ICTs). International Girls in ICT Day is celebrated on the 4th Thursday in April every year. International Girls in ICT day will next be observed on 25 April 2013.
On the auspicious occasion of International Girls in ICT Day on 25th April 2013, Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) is organizing an Essay Competition on “Role of ICT in Empowering Girls and Women”. Hence, interested girls from any school/college/university (upto undergraduate level) are requested to send their essays (in Nepali or English) not exceeding 2000 words along with a copy of valid student identity card to NTA at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com 18 April 2013. The winners of the essay competition shall be awarded by NTA on Girls in ICT Day, 25th April, 2013.
Meanwhile, ICT related companies, government agencies, academic institutions, NGOs working in the field of women empowerment and other interested organisations are requested to organize local or national events on International Girls in ICT Day on 25th April 2013 targeting teenage girls and university students. You are also kindly requested to inform NTA about the planned program.
