International Girls in ICT Day is an initiative backed by International Communication Union (ITU) Member States in Plenipotentiary Resolution 70 (Guadalajara, 2010) to create a global environment that empowers and encourages girls and young women to consider careers in the growing field of information and communication technologies (ICTs). International Girls in ICT Day is celebrated on the 4th Thursday in April every year. International Girls in ICT day will next be observed on 28 April 2016. To commemorate International Girls in ICT day, Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) is organizing following events.
a. Inter-School Quiz Contest on ICT
The Quiz contest shall be based on Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The participants shall be girls from school/college upto 12th grade or equivalent. Interested girls with a team of two members are kindly requested to register their names with valid student identity cards or via official school / college letter to NTA at following address or email at spandey@nta.gov.np or skhatiwada@nta.gov.np or registered in http://goo.gl/forms/gCFRFQl7Y8. The deadline for registration is 20th April 2016. The winners of the contest shall be awarded by NTA on Girls in ICT day.
b. Mobile App Development Contest
The theme for the contest shall be “Fighting Violence Against Women” The participants shall be college/university girls upto undergraduate level. Interested girls are kindly requested to register with a team of three members at maximum with valid student identiry cards or via college/university letter to NTA at following address or email at skhatiwada@nta.gov.np or rkbasukala@nta.gov.np within 18th April 2016.
c. Girls in ICT Magazine publication
The suggested topics for article are enlisted to below. Hence interested female authors are requested to submit an article in English not exceeding 2000 words along with a digital passport sized photograph to NTA at spandey@nta.gov.np or bkhadka@nta.gov.np within 18th April 2016. The magazine shall be published by NTA on on Girls in ICT day.
